Embracing Urban Living House in City Park, Ovar

0

Nelson Resende Arquitecto undertook the task of constructing a small house on a compact plot of land, measuring only 80.00m2, adjacent to the city park in Ovar, Portugal. Despite the constraints, the architects aimed to create a 2-bedroom dwelling with carefully controlled areas, utilizing a flexible and adaptable construction approach to suit the limited space available.

Integrating with the Urban Landscape: A Design Philosophy

Situated at the forefront of the city’s urban park, the House in City Park holds a prominent position, demanding a design that contributes to the city’s aesthetic appeal. The architects envisioned the house not merely as a structure but as an inhabited sculpture, enhancing the urban image while blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings.

Stratified Living Spaces: Functionality and Form

With an implantation area of 40.00m2, the dwelling spans two floors with access to a third-floor terrace, maximizing outdoor living. The programmatic arrangement segregates social and private spaces, with each floor characterized by distinct polygons, materials, and environments. A garden patio expands into the park, creating a harmonious connection between interior and exterior spaces.

Harmonizing with Nature: A Bucolic Aesthetic

The design aesthetic embraces a bucolic sensibility, in harmony with the verdant parkland and its evolving foliage. The choice of materials and textures reflects a conscious effort to integrate with the natural landscape, creating a retreat-like ambiance where inhabitants can escape the urban hustle and immerse themselves in tranquility.

Aging with Grace: Patinas of Time

In its quest for authenticity, the House in City Park seeks to age gracefully alongside the surrounding garden. Exposed concrete, with its varying shades, develops patinas over time, blending seamlessly with the evolving natural environment and embodying a sense of enduring beauty.

Conclusion: A Sanctuary of Serenity

House in City Park, Ovar, epitomizes the marriage of architecture and nature, offering residents a sanctuary of serenity amidst the bustling urban landscape. Through thoughtful design and integration with the surrounding parkland, this micro-residence embodies a harmonious blend of functionality, aesthetics, and tranquility.
